This topic provides an overview of the major new features in MediaCentral UX v2.10.
Assets

Feature
Description
Icons that indicate media status
For Interplay Production assets, the Media Status column and individual label (resolution) columns display the status of assets using the following icons:
Hover over an icon to display a tool tip that describes the status.
Editing

Feature
Description
Synchronize broadcast graphics with a MediaCentral | UX sequence
Graphics added to an iNEWS story are now shown in an associated MediaCentral UX script sequence. Starting with MediaCentral v2.10, the Avid Maestro plug-in supports this feature. For example, if you add a Maestro graphic to a story in MediaCentral UX, the graphic is automatically added to the associated sequence. If you change the timing of a graphic in the sequence, or delete a graphic, the change is also made in the story.
Load a media segment from a sequence.
You can now load a media segment (video or audio) from a sequence into the Media viewer. Double-click the segment, or right-click the segment and select Load Clip, and the source clip for that segment is loaded into Asset mode in the Media viewer. In and Out marks are set to match the segment used in the sequence.
*This feature is similar to the Match Frame feature. However, Match Frame uses the location of the position indicator to determine which clip to load. The Load Clip feature loads the source clip for the segment you select, regardless of the location of the position indicator.
Deletion commands in the Sequence pane
Deletion menu commands in the Sequence pane have been reworded to specify the item selected for deletion. This change helps prevent an incorrect deletion.
Delete Dissolve: Deletes a video dissolve effect
Delete Graphic: Deletes a graphic segment or untimed graphic
Delete Segment: Deletes a media segment
Delete Timing Block - Deletes a script sequence timing block (context menu only)
Use a sequence as source footage
You can open an Interplay MAM basic sequence in Asset mode and use it as source footage for a basic sequence that is loaded in Output mode. You can open basic sequences and audio-only basic sequences in Asset mode. When you load the sequence in Asset mode, editing controls such as Mark In and Mark Out are available through buttons and keyboard shortcuts.
Installation and Configuration

Feature
Description
Self-Signed SSL Certificates (new in v2.10.1)
The process to create a self-signed certificate in versions 2.5.0 through 2.10.0 incorrectly assigns the server’s IP address as an alternate host name. As a result, users cannot connect to MediaCentral UX through an IP address without getting a security warning in the browser.
MediaCentral Platform Services v2.10.1 fixes this issue.
For more information on creating SSL certificates for MediaCentral Platform Services, see the following link: http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/how_to/SSL-Certificates-for-server-to-browser-connections
Sharded MongoDB support for Windows Server 2012
The sharded MongoDB arbiter now supports installation on the Windows Server 2012 operating system.
For more information, see “Sharded MongoDB” in the Avid MediaCentral Platform Services Installation and Configuration Guide.
Logging Pane

Feature
Description
Click a log entry to display In and Out points in the Media viewer.
With a log displayed in the Logging pane, you can click a log entry so that In and Out points for the segment are displayed in the Media viewer, You can check the In and Out points to make sure they are correct and adjust them if necessary. You then have the option of dragging the segment from the Media viewer to a sequence and building a sequence from your logged clips.
This feature applies to logs created for both Interplay Production and Interplay MAM assets.
Note the following:
Interplay Production markers do not use Out points, so when you load a clip with a marker, the marker becomes an In point and MediaCentral UX adds an Out point five seconds after the In point.
In and Out marks are not updated when you scrub or play the loaded clip. Corresponding segments in the Logging pane are highlighted.
Filter logs
For strata associated with Interplay MAM clips, you can use the following filtering controls to display a subset of the logged segments:
A general text filter that searches all properties of the log.
A property-specific text filter. Each column provides a filter control to search in the corresponding segment property. You can include AND or OR for a Boolean search.
Export strata annotations to a CSV file
Starting with MediaCentral UX v2.10, you can export strata annotations to a CSV file that you can open as a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. Only information for the stratum open in the pane is exported. If you apply a filter to the stratum open in the pane, only information of the segments that are shown in the pane is exported.
Remember the last used stratum
For Interplay MAM assets, the Logging pane saves information for the last used stratum for each asset type. When you open an asset in the Logging pane, the stratum that you used the last time for an asset of that asset type is automatically selected.
Process Dashboard Pane

Feature
Description
Apply a top-level process filter
The Process Dashboard pane toolbar now provides a Top Level Filter button that toggles displaying top-level processes on and off. If toggled on, the Process List shows only processes that have no parent process. If toggled off, processes of all hierarchy levels are shown in the Process List.
User Interface in Estonian

Feature
Description
User interface items can be viewed in Estonian
Users can select Estonian as a language for display.
Media Index supports language analysis for Estonian.
Interplay | MAM

Feature
Description
Batch editing of metadata
To support editing metadata of several assets at the same time, starting with version 2.10, MediaCentral UX offers a feature called “batch metadata editing.” The batch metadata editing feature changes the value of properties that are editable in all selected assets. Read-only properties and editable properties that are only available in a few of the selected assets cannot be changed. You can apply the batch metadata editing feature to assets selected in the Assets or Search pane.
For more information, see Batch Metadata Editing.
Sorting Actions menu items
Starting with Interplay MAM v5.9 / MediaCentral UX v2.10, the order in which process types are listed as entries in the Actions menu can be configured by an Interplay MAM administrator. If sorting of the process types is not configured in Interplay MAM, the process types appear in an unsorted order in the Actions menu. For additional information, see the Interplay | MAM Process Reference.
Media | Distribute

Feature
Description
Removing Media Distribute
In the event that Media Distribute needs to be uninstalled from a MediaCentral server, an uninstall script has been created to expedite the removal process.
For more information, see the Media | Distribute Installation and Configuration Guide.

Mobile Apps

Feature
Description
Deep link support for iOS (new in v2.10.1)
Deep links are now supported with the MediaCentral mobile app for iPad and iPhone. When a user selects a deep link in an e-mail, the device’s default web browser initially appears. The MediaCentral tab in the browser detects the mobile device and prompts the user to instead open the link in the MediaCentral mobile app. If the mobile app is not installed, a banner bar provides a link to install it.
For more information, see MediaCentral | UX Messages.
Marker support for Android
The MediaCentral mobile app for Android now supports viewing markers for media assets.
For more information, see Using Markers.
Review and approval for Android
For sites that have enabled the “Approval_Process” custom property in the Interplay Production database, a Status bar now appears in the Android mobile app for review and approval of assets.

Feature
Description
Associating a sequence with a story.
The MediaCentral | UX User’s Guide describes the ability to associate existing sequences with a story. However, these sequences do not contain timing blocks that are synchronized with story segments. Only sequences created by clicking the Open Sequence button in the Queue/Story pane display timing blocks that are synchronized with story segments.
Media | Director Plug-in: Remote STP

Feature
Description
Sending assets to a remote playback device
This optional Media Director version 2.1 plug-in lets a MediaCentral UX user send Interplay Production assets to an AirSpeed playback server located in a different workgroup. This feature is called remote send to playback (Remote STP). Remote STP is especially useful for large broadcasters who have offices in different geographical locations, some of which host the playback servers (playback offices), and some of which only create content (satellite offices). Remote STP lets a user in a satellite office send an asset directly to a playback server in the playback office.
For more information, see the Media | Director Remote STP ReadMe.
